THE OAKS | NEW FOREST, DORSET

A traditional structure with contemporary interest.

At Marlow we love to use natural materials such as stone and timber. We have utilised these materials within this home which has been designed to sit within and connect well to the landscape which surrounds it. At Marlow we love to create traditional structures with hints of contemporary interest and in this example, we have utilised a timber frame in conjunction with solid and chunky stone walls.

The elegance of the oak frame and glazing contrasts with the solidity of stone elements creating a robust traditional building that sits well within its landscape setting. We have designed single, double and triple height spaces within this home. These changing volumes add to the architectural interest and experience of the building. Intimate cosy spaces contrast with a dramatic light filled atrium. The oak structure is revealed throughout the building as are solid stone walls that extend into the interior spaces.
