RAVINE ROAD | POOLE, DORSET
Luxury home remodel using a sumptuous pallet of materials.
This upscaling project in Canford Cliffs, Poole, shows how an existing tired property can become something new and inspirational. There is an art to working with existing buildings and regard must be had to the correct balance between alterations and extensions versus leaving parts of the existing building fabric intact. If too much change is proposed, then the project can easily and quickly become unrealistic from a financial perspective particularly as VAT is applied to construction projects that are not new builds. Marlow very carefully plans our projects to ensure that the correct balance between these elements. This project involved the removal of the roof of the existing building and replacing it with a very simple box of timber frame construction. Combined with a refresh in materials this creates the illusion of a new-build home when in fact a substantial amount of the existing building is retained.
The design brief from our client was to create a ‘moody’ feel to the home with a sumptuous pallet of materials. Grey, as opposed to white render, works nicely with the chocolate-coloured timber cladding and large areas of glass.
