PARTRIDGE DRIVE | POOLE, DORSET

Two homes that exemplify innovative potential.

In the design of these two homes, the central floor extends outward from the primary structural zone, contributing to a striking, modern front elevation. This feature serves multiple functions, acting as a canopy for the front door, providing a balcony to the first floor living areas, and ensuring privacy for the bedroom zone on the top floor. The ground floor is finished with timber cladding, suggesting a lightweight quality and accentuating the suspended appearance of the first-floor cantilever. As the design ascends, materials adopt a darker tone, enhancing the overall modern aesthetic. The rooftop of these properties has also been utilised as an outdoor space for residents through the addition of a roof terrace, accessed via a sliding roof light above the staircase.

One of the distinctive attributes of the site appears on the ground floor, where the rear of this level is set into the slope creating a basement zone. This area benefits from unique illumination provided by skylights arranged against the back wall. By setting the first floor back from this line, the basement level is bathed in natural light, transforming what would otherwise be an unused, dark space. Ultimately, the project exemplifies the innovative development potential we can realise for clients.
