Nestled within one of the most exceptional plots in the UK, this Marlow Architects design embraces the beautiful site and breathtaking panoramic views of the ever-changing Poole Harbour. Our design approach prioritised an integration with the natural surroundings, achieved through a careful placement of planting and landscaping. The carefully curated material palette, featuring durable elements such as stone, concrete and timber, was deliberately chosen for both longevity and harmony with existing materials and textures on site. Timeless details were incorporated into the design, imparting an elegance that is befitting of the character of Sandbanks.
Beyond the planting that dresses the facade and wraps the perimeter of the house, we have worked alongside a specialist to extend our landscaping vision to the site boundaries, incorporating unique enhancements to reinforce sea defences. Dunes, rocks and native plant species were strategically implemented to provide resilience. Mindful of the project’s location within the Conservation Area, our development was dedicated to enhancing the plot and local surroundings
Internally, spaces evoke a luxury feel, with planters placed throughout the floor plan to mirror the external environment. The predominantly open ground floor features a range of entertainment spaces tailored to our client. These have been designed to accommodate various sized gatherings, and to create diverse atmospheres that suit a myriad of occasions.
On the upper level, generously sized bedroom suites have carefully positioned openings that capture views of the harbour, both from the inside and from the terraces. The design aspires to achieve the highest standards of architecture and craftsmanship, setting a benchmark for future development in the area.
